East Branch Residence

A collaboration with Barry Price Architecture this house is blessed with a beautiful site: a perch overlooking a beaver populated pond and a short walk to fly fishing on the East Branch of the Delaware River; perfect for the owners who are, respectively, a devoted fly fisher and birdwatcher in their spare hours. The house is a series of stepped shed roofs.  Where taller they create a vaulted living room and library/home office overlooking the pond that gives. The walls and roof are thick and packed with cellulose insulation while the triple-paned windows and doors buffet the Catskills’ winter winds. Our friends at Mountain Flame in Arkville supplied and installed a minimalist Stuv wood stove that can be operated with the glass up or down. It’s a cozy retreat in the snowy months and opened wide for gatherings in the bright days of summer.
